WoodBlocX timber is pressure-treated with a water-based preservative (Wolmanit CX). Our timber is dried in a vacuum and then pressurised to 300 psi. If you cut a piece of WoodBlocX in half you will find that the preservative has penetrated virtually 100% of the sapwood. This makes our structures durable and long-lasting for up to 15 years! Please don't varnish WoodBlocX! Water will get under the varnish and turn it black within a year. Unless you want to treat it like a boat and varnish it every year! You can paint WoodBlocX with any good-quality water-based exterior wood paint if you want it coloured, or just leave it natural (make sure your WoodBlocX structure has had time to dry out before painting). To work out the internal size, you’ll need to reduce your measurements by the thickness of the wood and the height of your capping layer. Many of the photos shown across our website have been taken several months after building WoodBlocX - this is when our structures are looking their best and the greenish discoloration has faded to reveal the natural golden-pine colour. Due to our wood treatment process, your WoodBlocX may arrive with a greenish discoloration - this is completely normal and will fade once the blocks are exposed to UV rays from sunlight.
