# Do WoodBlocX structures have a base/bottom?

WoodBlocX structures are open at the bottom and **DO NOT** have a base.

If you wish to add a base to your structure, we recommend **using a good-quality plywood**. 

When building [raised beds](https://www.woodblocx.co.uk/raised-beds) on hard surfaces such as concrete or tarmac, fully lining the structure on all sides and bottom creates a suitable space to hold soil or organic material. 

For our raised ponds under 2m, we offer a [PVC liner](https://www.woodblocx.co.uk/woodblocx-pvc-pond-liner-free) that can be added to your order. For ponds larger than 2m in size, we offer a bespoke pond liner service.
